What is a Charter School?
Designed and operated by educators, parents, community leaders, and others, Charter Schools are independent public schools. They are chartered by the State Board of Education, which monitors their quality and integrity. Charter Schools design and deliver programs tailored to educational excellence and community needs. As schools of choice, they are held to the highest level of accountability.

Every Child Matters
On the very first day your child enters the doors of Brooks Academy, they will receive the individual attention necessary to help them succeed. An academic mentor is assigned to your child who will remain an integral part of their career at Brooks Academy, assuming a role in partnership with you, your student and the school to prepare your child for a positive and rewarding educational experience. Each mentor belongs to a ‘house’ which means your child will be assigned to one of four ‘houses’ competing throughout the year with one ‘house’ claiming the prestigious title of ‘House Champion’ at the end of the year. Points are earned from ‘good deeds’ to academic and intramural competition.

March is Open Enrollment Month for San Antonio Charter Schools
Currently enrolled students at Brooks Academy receive a Notice of Intent to Return form by March 15 stating their intention to return the following school year and also identifying siblings wishing to attend. This form must be returned by March 31. Applications from new students are accepted January 1 through March 31 and admission of eligible applicants is dependent on vacancies from returning students and siblings. If more eligible applicants than vacant spaces exist, a lottery will be conducted by April 15. Brooks Academy of Science and Engineering does not discriminate in admission based on gender, national origin, ethnicity, religion, disability, academic, artistic or athletic ability, or the district the child would otherwise attend.

“Brooks Academy is a great school. My daughter is a freshman now (her fourth year at Brooks) and is doing very well. The school has made changes over the past few years. The Principal is not afraid to make any changes that will benefit his students and staff. As a parent I am glad to be involved in the school functions showing my support for all the students. Since I have chosen Brooks for my child to learn and grow, the school has become a family for us and I am very passionate about Brooks Academy. I just learned that the school is be adding 4th and 5th grades as of January 2011. What a wonderful opportunity for your young child. Don't miss out on becoming a part of the Brooks Academy family.”
